Thrift Store Challenge: Sister Outfits

My sister visited earlier this summer. We decided to do a thrift store challenge. Outfits for under $10. And we were happy with the results!
Isn't she so pretty? She bought a deep red lacy top, jeans and a cardigan (it was way too hot for the cardigan when we took these photos!). I think that top is really cute.
I bought a floral chambray button-up and pink, preppy Ralph Lauren shorts. The shorts were the appropriate length for a grandma. I cut them off and created a bit of fringe around the hem. Those shorts have ended up being a staple in my summer wardrobe!

Man, I really don't do well in the heat. These photos totally betray how hot it was. I melt like a piece of ice in hot weather. :)

I'm thinking of turning that chambray top into something else because it is a bit big and boxy. Maybe the top of a dress with a piece of jersey for the bottom? Or a tank top? What do you think?

  1. either would work well for the top, but being the lazy DIYer I am I would just hack the sleeves and make it an (almost) crop top. great finds on both of you, love your shorts & the top & your sister's top. you both really are gorgeous! love this feature too of course.

  2. I can't stand the heat either! Good job on the thrift shopping!

  3. I love that floral top. It looks great on you! I haven't thrifted in weeks & this is just the motivation I need to get back into some stores & hunt down some great finds.
