Bites: Braided Pie Crust Cookies

If you are obsessed with the crusts on things, this cookie is for you. And we can probably be BFF because I love crusts, too! Like, I mostly just want crust and a bit of filling. Or mostly pizza crusts with a bit of sauce. So I thought a pie crust cookie would be awesome. Click 'read more' to see how to do this!
Ingredients: pie crust (prepackaged was yummy!), butter, confectioner's sugar, milk

Step 1: Roll out pie crust dough. 
Step 2: Square off your dough by cutting off rounded edges.
Step 3: Cut the dough into thin strips (1/8-1/4 inch).
Step 4: Take three strips and squish them all together on one end. A dab of water on your fingertips does the trick for sealing that up.
Step 5 & 6: Braid the strips together. Keep braiding. I hope you love braiding cause you'll be doing a lot of it!
Step 7: Take your sealed end and use it as the base.
Step 8: Wrap your entire braid around that base.
Step 9: Cut the 'ugly' end of your braid into a nice, pretty edge. 
At this point, you can either tuck your braid under or over the cookie. Then flatten it a bit with your hand. See the difference between tucking under and over? And the difference between thick and thin strips. I prefer thin, I think...
Step 10: Brush your cookies with melted butter (I added a little confectioner's sugar and a dab of honey).
Step 11: Now bake according to the package instructions.
Step 12: The best part! I glazed the cookies with a confectioner's sugar/milk mixture. Delish.
Idea for serving: Unless you LOVE crusts, you might want to serve this with ice cream (or some type of drink you can dip it in). That sounds amazing right now...

  3. YUM!!! I will always get two pieces of pie at Thanksgiving and cut off all but the crust and about an inch of pie! I will definitely be trying this recipe out!
