Even though I don't scrapbook much (at all), I still follow scrapbooking blogs because they reflect and influence current crafting design trends. And there are some amazing scrapbookers out there. They've got skillz, y'all.
Anyway, the point of this is - one of the blogs I follow represents the brand DCWV (Die Cuts With a View). DCWV makes really great scrapbooking/crafting paper. Among other things. I highly recommend their brand. Every month, they host a scrapbook challenge. This month, they added a card challenge. Which is right up my alley. They give you a template and you create a card based on that template (using their stacks) . It's a nice creative prompt that isn't too binding - you can interpret as you see fit.
Sorry for the grainy photo- I'm saving for a new camera but won't get it until this summer.
Anyway, I made this card for my mom. But I like to say 'mum' in a British or Australian accent because that sounds way cooler, right?
All of the papers are from DCWV's Linen Closet stack except for the orange flower and cream background - I just used some plain paper I had lying around. I inked the edges of some flower petals so it looks like coordinating colors but it is really all one color.
The random winner gets one of DCWV's stacks*.
This is the template for April. See how I changed things up? For example, I didn't use ribbon, I used paper to create a criss-cross ribbon effect. And I chose not to use a sentiment, I went with a flower.
*'Stacks' is what DCWV calls their packages of scrapbooking paper.
