DIY & Technique: Simple Earrings
The DIY project for this week includes the steps for a wire wrapping techniques and you end up with some pretty, easy-to-wear earrings!
See the steps to these earrings and a basic wire wrapping technique after the jump!
I use all-in-one jewelry pliers, as you can see. So if you have this tool, you don't need separate wire cutters & round nose pliers. You can see the little round cut-out on the pliers - that is the wire cutter. The flat part above that is the wire stripper (also handy for pinching - which you would usually do with flat nose pliers). If you are a beginning jewelry maker, an all-in-one is great. You can upgrade to individual tools later. Not pictured: earring wires. You'll see them later in the process.
Now your bead is prepped and ready to thread on a chain or earring wires.
See how pretty that wire wrapping is? And so secure.
These earring wires are called 'kidney' earring wires or earring findings.
And voila! You're done.
